The Pamir highway

The Pamir highway is a famous mountain highway that runs along the border with Afghanistan and China, connecting Khorog in Tajikistan and Osh in Kyrgyzstan.

Most of the road passes through the territory of Tajikistan, connecting the capital of the state of Dushanbe with the main city of Gorny Badakhshan - Khorog. This part of the Pamir tract was named the Western Pamir tract. Another section of the road, which traditionally carries the largest traffic, connects Khorog with the Kyrgyz city of Osh. It was named the Eastern Pamir tract.
